School Supplies Drive
SCHOOL  SUPPLY DRIVES
There is no more important endeavor for our city’s youth than obtaining a good education. It is the key to opening their opportunities, expanding their worldview, and helping them and their families rise out of difficult economic circumstances. Unfortunately, these circumstances often make it difficult for some students to afford the school supplies they need to complete homework and assignments. Without proper tools, it is hard to do the job of learning.

Both sides of the equation are active throughout the year. Teachers and parents register at the Sponsor-a-Mind website where they can apply directly for donations and post to discussion forums. At the same time, Sponsor-a-Mind volunteers request items from stores all year round so that they are available for delivery as soon as requests come in. The Sponsor-a-Mind committee reviews requests monthly, picks up donations from stores, and coordinates distribution to the school or individual. Since its inception, we have been documenting the program through correspondence and photography; much of this record is available on our website.

Sponsor-A-Mind was founded on August 12, 2006 on the belief that all children deserve to start their first day of school well prepared. For many of us the most basic school supplies are not difficult to acquire. For the children of families living in poverty, the prospects of having their very own notebook, pencil or box of crayons are highly unlikely. The goal of the  Sponsor-A-Mind Program is to provide these less fortunate children the necessary supplies they need so that they are equipped to receive what they so desperately need — an education.
Sponsor-A-Mind is proud to count hundreds of different non-profit groups among our customer base including relief organizations, philanthropic groups, churches and school districts. All of these groups share a common objective – working to serve the most deprived and deserving children both domestically and internationally. Our objective is to assist these groups with their initiatives by giving them a convenient and affordable source to purchase essential products for children.
With our School Supply Donation Program, children PK-12th grade receive a completely assembled kit with the appropriate school supplies for their grade inside. Each kit is filled with new, name brand school supplies from partners such as Staples, Office Max and Office Depot.  The kits are delivered to your choice of destination.
Sponsor-A-Mind is the MOER Foundation’s largest program and was the first successful endeavor of the foundation. The primary purpose of the Sponsor-A-Mind is to supply underprivileged school children and classrooms in less affluent neighborhoods with the basic materials needed to exist and thrive in education. The program name emphasizes the idea that contributing school supplies is not simply a matter of easing a disadvantaged family’s needs. Rather, supporting education in this way allows contributors to provide backing for the students development and future.
